Your LASIK Procedure

Your LASIK Procedure Step-by-Step

You’re ready for Advanced PRK LASIK, and the process is designed to be as smooth and comfortable as possible. The procedure begins with anesthetic drops applied to your eyes, ensuring they are completely numb and you remain relaxed throughout. Unlike traditional LASIK, Advanced PRK does not require the creation of a corneal flap. Instead, the surface layer of the cornea (the epithelium) is gently removed to access the underlying tissue.

Using advanced laser technology, Dr. Mazaheri precisely reshapes your cornea, guided by computer calculations tailored to your unique vision correction needs. Once the procedure is complete, a protective contact lens is placed over the treated area to promote healing while the epithelium naturally regenerates.

The procedure typically takes around 10-15 minutes per eye. While vision improvement begins soon after, some initial blurriness is normal as your eyes heal. Dr. Mazaheri will provide you with detailed post-operative instructions, including using prescribed eye drops and wearing protective shields to ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results.

Your Recovery

Recovery and Follow-up After LASIK

Recovery is fast, with vision improvement noticeable almost immediately. You’ll need someone to drive you home and keep your eyes closed to allow healing. Wear protective eye shields while sleeping for the first week.

At our Dallas area office, about 90 percent of laser vision correction patients are able to drive on their own the following day. However, patients should avoid driving while taking any of the medications prescribed after surgery.

Each patient’s healing response is different. Our staff can monitor laser vision correction outcomes and alter the use of eye drops, anti-inflammatory drugs, and other medications to maximize each patient’s postoperative results.
